‘IMAGE OF A SOUND’ - an audio-reactive artwork. Piermarq Projects

With ‘Image of a Sound, the artworks I showcased centred around the perceptions of depth in a visual sense, utilising holographic fans as a medium to present the discussion.

I worked with a UK-based artist, Solv, to make an audio-visualised artwork that will be the centrepiece within the space. The hologram fans were physically layered, providing the viewer with different ways of perceiving audio, a way to visualise sound physically. Altogether, this work integrates elements from the fields of electronic music, code-driven visuals and sound art.

The holographic fans were a medium that had been featured heavily in my 2022 artworks. They produce a very convincing illusion of my artwork floating in the air by having the spinning fan practically invisible to the human eye, thus producing a transparent background. I'm presenting the viewer with a means of perceiving digital art in a different way. Continuing my exploration, finding different ways to utilise this new technology.

I want to encourage discussion about how we will consume digital art in the future.

Altogether, this work integrates elements from the fields of electronic music, code-driven visuals and sound art. using technology to create interactive audio systems that interact with the waveform and the frequency amplitudes.

“All the waveforms faithfully transmitted to our auditory cortex by the ear and its mechanisms constitute our immediate soundscape. Though we may not be of it, we are in it.”   –  Pauline Oliveros
