Flux
‘FLUX’
‘Flux’ is a movement-focused artwork developed in collaboration with Rhys Kosakowski and displayed on holographic fans. This piece delves into my ongoing exploration of digital depth and perspective, building upon my early experimentation with the Xbox Kinect camera in 2015. At that time, I was fascinated by the idea of capturing depth digitally and discovered that the Kinect’s depth sensor could visualise this dimension.
Through object-tracking spheres programmed to oscillate along the x and y axes, I reached new levels in visualising depth, adding layers of motion that interact with Rhys’s movements within the voided space, underscoring the theme of dynamic motion.
The concept for Flux originated when I met Rhys at a house party. I loved the way he moved so effortlessly and in sync with the music. In that moment, I knew I wanted to use Rhys for this piece.
